Sherry Nobles believes in every student she teaches and strives to help each one succeed. Her former colleague, Maria Bostian, describes Sherry as an advocate and partner for students in their education.
“She is an incredible teacher who strives to make meaningful connections with her students and others in the school setting,” Maria said. “I appreciate all that she does for her students and would love to recognize her as a Reading Hero, because what she does on a daily basis greatly benefits her students and their families.”
Sherry is a multilingual learners teacher at Governors’ Village STEM Academy. She has been teaching for 24 years, and believes deeply in the power of reading.
“Reading opens the world to endless possibilities,” Sherry said. “It gives you the power to learn anything, dream anything, go anywhere, and become anything you aspire to be.”
Sherry works to build students’ background knowledge through real-life exposure when possible, and uses visuals to help build vocabulary. Sherry also integrates math, science, and social studies topics into her class time to provide her students with an integrative experience, Maria said.
“Ms. Nobles strives to meet the students where they are and has the belief they can all grow and succeed at any goal,” Maria said.
