The VIP Read-Aloud Model was designed to empower more community-based organizations to provide high-quality read-alouds in their programs, as the practice is one of the most powerful strategies to help children build comprehension skills.
This pilot initiative supports partners with integrating targeted listening comprehension assessments into their programs, providing a more comprehensive understanding of students’ literacy development.
The Listening Comprehension Resource Center, a first-of-its-kind website featuring curated listening comprehension resources for educators to use in classroom settings, was developed to help increase the level and quality of efforts focused on building this important literacy skill.
This work is focused on helping build strong models of school-community partnerships that can improve school-level literacy outcomes.
