Listening comprehension is a critical yet often overlooked literacy skill. As part of our work to help increase the level and quality of efforts focused on building this important skill, we developed the Listening Comprehension Resource Center (LCRC), a first-of-its-kind website featuring curated listening comprehension research and resources for educators.
The website (listeningcomprehension.org) is comprised of two sections: a Knowledge Base, which provides research and other background information to support educators’ professional learning, and a Materials Directory, which provides more than 200 classroom materials curated by Read Charlotte, including assessments, interventions, practices, instructional strategies, and activities.
The LCRC fills an important gap by providing a comprehensive hub where educators can both learn about listening comprehension and access practical tools for teaching and assessing it.
